Interview with Michael Moodoo

Michael, what's your story?

Well, I'm a professional puppeteer and entrepreneur. I have three sons and I live in Pasadena, California USA.

Why Did You Make Puppet Power?

I've always loved puppets since I was a kid. Now I'm a professional puppeteer, with kids of my own who are just as enthusiastic about making puppets as I am. So I decided to make a DVD series that would help teach viewers how to make sock puppets, hand puppets, finger puppets and more using household objects.

What's Your Background In Teaching How To Make Puppets?

I have been a puppeteer since 2001, and have taught hundreds of puppet-making workshops to children, parents and even teachers in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

In 2010, the Producers of a new Scooby Doo Animated Movie DVD called and asked me to host a video about How to Make Monster Puppets on their new Scooby Doo DVD. It was a lot of fun! I designed the puppets with the help of my then 4-year-old son, and the video was a BIG HIT! I got a lot of great emails from fans of the video, so I decided to make Puppet Power on DVD to teach viewers how to make animal puppets, dinosaur puppets and bug puppets.

Is Puppet Power Fun For The Whole Family?

Yes. Making Puppets is a fun way for families to spend time together. And then you end up with some really cool puppets to remind you & your family how much fun you had!

I've Never Made Puppets Before. Can I Learn How To Make Sock Puppets, Hand Puppets, Finger Puppets and More?

Yes. Puppet Power DVDs show you simple, step by step instructions for Easy to Make Puppets. For example in DVD #1 How to Make Animal Puppets, viewers learn how to use a juice box to make a Monkey hand puppet. You learn how to use a paper cup to make a Lion hand puppet. And you get to make a Snake Marionette using a paper plate. You also make sock puppets, specifically a Zebra and a Frog. They're all really cute and fun to make.

Where Do You Get The Materials To Make The Puppets?

Most of the materials can be found at home or at the local craft store.

How Fun Is It?

Very fun. :)

Is It Easy To Make Puppets Using Puppet Power DVDs?

Yes. Each puppet-making DVD shows clear, step by step instructions on how to build puppets.

What Are Your Plans For Puppet Power In The Future?

I can't wait to see all the great puppets you are inspired to make from Puppet Power DVDs! Please email me with photos of you and your puppet(s), along with your name & the name of your puppet(s). You can get featured as the "Puppet Builder of the Week" on Easy To Make and on our Facebook page. Thanks!
